Not always. Smaller targets need more compression. We maximize quality first and avoid resizing unless required — and we always show the real output size.
Why can’t I use PNG in target size mode?+−
PNG is lossless, so it cannot reliably shrink to a chosen KB limit. Target mode uses JPEG or WebP. Manual quality mode still supports PNG.
